Lars-Birger Sponberg was born in Sweden and migrated to America in 1930. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and has been exhibiting with galleries and in group shows since the 1940's. In using mid-west landscapes as a subject for paintings, he calls attention to the extraordinariness of the commonplace, the in betweens of celebrated places.
